NAKABAWI ang merchandise exports ng bansa noong Marso sa likod ng global economic recovery sanhi ng nagpapatuloy na COVID-19 vaccinations, ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Tinukoy ang datos mula sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), sinabi ng DTI na ang export sales ng bansa ay tumaas ng 31% sa $6.68 billion noong Marso mula sa $5.079 billion sa kaparehong panahon noong nakaraang taon.

Mas mataas din ito kumpara sa $6.03 billion na naitala noong Marso 2019.

Dahil dito, ang year-to-date export earnings ay umabot sa $17.56 billion, mas mataas ng 7.6% year-on-year.

Ayon sa DTI, lumago ang electronics, na bumubuo sa 61% ng lahat ng exports, ng 25% kumpara sa kahalintulad na panahon noong nakaraang taon. Ito’y dahil sa pangangailangan sa chips sanhi ng upgrades sa IT systems, bagong smartphones, auto demand, at automation.

“Factories across the US, Europe, and Asia are ramping up production. And since the Philippines is part of global value chains, our exports recover as more countries reopen,” sabi ni DTI Sec. Ramon Lopez.

“I hope this trend continues so our exporters can hire more people,” aniya.

Ang lahat ng  top 10 major commodity groups pagdating sa value exports ay nagtala ng annual increases, sa pangunguna ng other mineral products (195.8%), kasunod ang chemicals (159.8%), at other manufactured goods (115.7%).

Ang coconut oil ang 10th most exported commodity group at ang top agricultural export.

Ang benta ng naturang produkto ay tumaas ng 7.8% sa $89.05 million.

Sa pag-aaral ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST) noong 2020 ay lumitaw na ang virgin coconut oil (VCO) ay makatutulong sa paglaban sa mga sintomas ng COVID-19 at para maiwasan maging severe ang mild cases.

Samantala, ang China ang top destination ng mga produkto, na tumatanggap ng $1.07 billion o 16% ng lahat ng export ng Filipinas.

Bukod sa China, ang top five trading partners nb bansa ay ang  US na may 14.9%; Japan, 14.7%; Hong Kong, 12.5%; at Singapore na may 5.2%.
