NAGPALABAS ng mga ga­bay ang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hinggil sa pagbebenta ng mga nakalalasing na inumin sa bansa.

Batay sa Circular No. 2019-006, inatasan ng FDA ang lahat ng food retailing stores na  ang lahat ng alcoholic beverages ay dapat na i-display lamang sa isang lugar at dapat na may nakalagay na karampatang signage.

“All alcoholic beverages, regardless of type of packaging, shall only be displayed in designated conspicuous area in all convenience stores, supermarkets, hypermarkets, groceries, and other food retailing stores with prominent signage ‘ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES,’” nakasaad sa circular.

“Other beverages with alcohol regardless of level of alcohol content like alcopop (flavoured beverage with alcohol content) shall likewise be displayed in this same designated area. These beverages shall not be displayed together with other products like juice drinks and must not be accessible to children,” anito pa.

Nabatid na inisyu ng FDA ang guidelines upang protektahan ang mga consumer, partikular na ang mga menor de edad, bunsod na rin ng iba’t ibang inobasyon sa mga packaging at pagbebenta ng mga nakalalasing na inumin.

“Food packaging technology and market innovation concerning stand-up pouch, flexible, tetra pack, and similar packaging materials are now evolving in both the international and local market,” anang FDA.

Ayon sa FDA, ang mga promotional at advertising materials ng mga alcoholic beverages ay dapat ding malinaw na nagsasaad na ang kanilang produkto ay nagtatag­lay ng sangkap na alcohol.

Hindi rin dapat na ‘appealing’ o nakakatawag ng pansin sa mga bata ang packaging at labelling materials ng mga ito.

“The FDA is enjoining all concerned, including local government units having jurisdiction on sari-sari stores, convenience stores, groceries, hypermarkets, supermarkets, and other similar food retailing stores to strictly implement guidelines,” anang ahensiya.

Maging ang mga may-ari ng mga sari-sari store ay ina­asahang tatalima sa itinatakdang guidelines ng FDA.

“Owners or operators of sari-sari stores which may not have enough space to designate an area for alcoholic beverages and other beverages with alcohol content shall be responsible to ensure that subject beverages are not sold to minors (below 18 years old),” dagdag ng FDA. ANA ROSARIO HERNANDEZ
