The Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs, together with Mama Sita Foundation launched Filipino Talent and Cuisine: An Art Exhibit in Celebration of the Filipino Food Month.
DFA-OPCD Executive Director Gonaranao Musor welcomed guests and visitors. Musor said the importance of diversity and the key unifying taste that is Filipino in our cuisine.
Claire Reyes Lapus, President of Mama Sita Foundation shared how Philippine Ambassadors paved the way for food diplomacy. She also raised her concern and encouraged DFA in the spirit of nationalism to join her in encouraging returning Filipinos to invest in planting.
Lapus said, “Agriculture after all is the backbone of nation building.”
Myra Paz Valderrosa – Abubakar, Department of Tourism Undersecretary, also shared food stories from Mindanao, an advocate of Halal food and promoting best coffee products from Sulu.
Chef Michelle Adrillana, Entrepreneur, Brand Endorser, Demonstration Chef, is an advocate of sustainable cooking, especially less to zero food waste. She was so proud to share that they received their first Michelin star.
Two artists shared their inspiration when painting food and cuisine: Arlene De Castro – Añonuevo and Riza Zuniga. The other artists were Jose Mari Hilario, Allan Brando Gonzales and Eunice Logro.
Ms. Emi Felimer and her team, successfully launched the event at DFA. Aside from paintings, Mama Sita Products and Philippine publications were part of the celebration of Filipino Food Month. By Riza Zuniga
