FILIPINOS are great workers. Even in the international scene, we make excellent frontliners. Frontliners are people who face guests and their primary role is to assist their clients and give customer service.
The Philippines produces globally competitive workers in the service industry because being hospitable is inherent in them. In fact, Fortune 500 companies include Filipinos as one of their top choices when it comes to hiring skilled professionals. Not only are they knowledgeable in their professional skills but their communication skills are remarkable as well, almost always having a friend-ly tone, passionate about helping.
In foreign lands, it is a delight to see Filipinos as frontliners in hotels, cruise ships, business establishments, and even in foreign airlines. You’ll recognize them right away as they give you their sincere smile and great service. It makes it even extra special when they say “Kabayan”, “Kumusta po?” “Kumusta na sa atin?” Right away, you’ll have this feeling of “I have a kababayan around, so I am in good hands.”
Filipino hospitality makes people feel at home and comfortable. Their smiles are contagious. They make you feel like family. At times, the much older ones utter endearing words like ‘anak’, ‘hijo/hija’, while the younger ones call the older generations ‘kuya/ate’ or ‘Manong/Manang’, and end their sentences with polite words such as ‘po/opo’. While these words are not common in the corporate world, these expressions show hospitality, respect and courtesy. When you hear these words of endearment, you feel like you are ‘family’; and families do help and support each other. This is one way how Filipinos show warmth.
At the workplace, Filipino workers show excellence. With thorough training, they can easily grasp the system; and because they can easily adapt, they start exploring on their own. Their efficiency, flexibility, creativity, dedication, friendliness and kindness make them successful in their respective fields of professions. Truly, Filipinos make good frontliners.
