THE dreaded Corona Virus Pandemic, which has started its toll in 2020 to the whole world. The earth has seemingly stopped spinning and the human race has apparently pressed the “Pause” button in all forms of activities. Yes, it has been more than a year now of endless battle against the invisible enemy.  Though this pandemic has set us apart, it has us drawn us together to collaborate otherwise our mission to bring quality education would be stagnant.

Opportunities to work and help one another have become a weapon to address pressing concerns in the society. Education for one has been tremendously challenged but these challenging situations have set room to device ways to propel learning even without the students and teachers in the typical classroom set up. So here comes the DepEd use of blended learning delivery modalities as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 12, series of 2020 “Adoption of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan.”

The Isabela School of Arts and Trades (ISAT), our school has capitalized on the Radio Broadcast Instruction (RBI) as one of its novel delivery modes in the teaching and learning repertoire.

The Department of Education has made use of radio broadcast instruction (RBI) as one of the options to reach learners. It is primarily used as a form of distance learning to teach learners who are unable to attend face-to-face lessons or who are in remote areas.

The compelling need for instruction that will reach the students resulted to the inception of the ISAT Flambeau Radio during the second half of the current school year.

Flambeau Radio is believed to have sparked knowledge and ignited skills. It is a sphere of flame that forges learning to every learner who is immensely challenged in ether or both modular and online learning modalities.

Through Flambeau Radio learning episodes in various subjects are delivered through the Program Learning Today. This novice project has been construed effective and efficient in the delivery of learning in this time of pandemic.

This modality of learning has proven many to be wrong in their assessment that radio is obsolete especially so that we are in living in the digital world. Today, it is fitting to say to never underestimate a thing because its ancient.

Indeed, this old technology has brought amazing practicability!
