FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION’S (FDA) COMMITMENT TO PUBLIC HEALTH PROTECTION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP (TWG) “OPLAN KATHAROS”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is unwavering in its dedication to safeguarding public health against the proliferation of counterfeit, adulterated, misbranded, and unregistered processed food, devices, drugs, cosmetics, household hazardous substances, and other health products. The FDA is resolutely enforcing its regulatory obligations to protect public health from imminent harm posed by violative health products in the market.

In furtherance of its mandate to ensure safety, efficacy, and quality of health products the FDA created a Technical Working Group (TWG) called “Oplan Katharos” on 12 April 2023. The TWG is tasked to develop and implement guidelines in relation to proper handling, storage, and disposal of seized health products. “Oplan Katharos” is designed to align with national and international environmental conservation and recovery standards, demonstrating our commitment to these principles.
