UMABOT sa 7.48 million ang foreign visitors na dumating sa bansa mula Enero hanggang Nobyembre ng 2019, ayon sa Department of Tourism (DOT).
Mas mataas ito ng 15.58 percent kumpara sa naitala sa kahalintulad na panahon noong 2018.
Noong November 2019, ang DOT ay nakapagtala ng 684,063 international visitors, mas mataas ng 21.25 percent sa kaparehong buwan noong 2018.
“We are just happy that our collected efforts paid off with the yearend projections indicating an outstanding performance of the tourism industry,” wika ni DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat sa isang statement.
Ayon sa DOT, ang hosting ng bansa sa 30th Southeast Asian Games noong late November hanggang early December ay inaasahang magpapalobo sa bilang ng foreign visitors noong 2019.
Gayunman, binigyang-diin ni Puyat na ang pagpapalakas sa sustainable tourism development program ng bansa ang mas mahalaga kaysa ang makamit ang target na numero.
Aniya, sa orihinal na pagtaya ng National Tourism Development Program (NTDP) para sa 2016-2022, nasa 8.2 million ang kabuuang international tourist arrivals sa bansa.
“The continued increase in tourist arrivals through November ensures we would have achieved a year-end total that surpasses that of the previous year,” anang tourism chief.
