FULL ALLOWANCE  NG NAT’L ATHLETES, COACHES IBABALIK NA

INAASAHANG maibabalik na sa 100 percent ang monthly allowances ng national athletes at coaches makaraang tapyasan ito ng kalahati noong Hulyo dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic, simula sa susunod na linggo, ayon kay  Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Rep. Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino.

Sinabi ni Tolentino na ang ipinasang Bayanihan Act 2 ay nagkakaloob ng pondo para sa sports program ng bansa na pansamantalang nasakripisyo dahil sa paggamit  ng mga pondo ng gobyerno sa COVID-19 response.

“This is good news for our athletes who have become anxious and even lost their focus during the pandemic. With their allowances back to normal, they can now concentrate on their training,” wika ni Tolentino, na masigasig na tumulong sa pagsusulong ng Bayanihan Act 2 sa Kon-greso.

Ayon kay Tolentino, ang Bayanihan Act 2 ay nagkakaloob ng P180 million para sa allowances ng mga miyembro ng national team.

“And that’s retroactive from July,” sabi ni Tolentino, at idinagdag na matatanggap ng mga atleta at coach ang 50 percent na tinapyas sa kanilang allowances nang gamitin ang budget ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) budget para sa taon sa pagtugon sa pandemya.

Ani Tolentino, ang bawat atleta at coach ay tatanggap din ng one-time P5,000 pandemic assistance.

“The funds are now with the PSC and we expect the allowances to be back to normal on the next pay day for the athletes and coaches,” aniya.

Ang  national team members na nasa ilalim ng kalinga ng PSC ay kinabibilangan ng 996 athletes, 262 coaches, 280 para athletes at 82 para coaches. Ang total monthly payroll ay nasa P41 million.

“It pains me and the POC, and even the PSC, to see the athletes and coaches suffer. After their historic and impressive performance in the 30th SEA Games where we emerged as overall champions, the athletes and coaches deserve nothing less,”  dagdag ni Tolentino.
