MATAPOS ang athletes’ quarters ay sinunod na ipinaayos ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez ang mga pasilidad sa makasaysayang Rizal Memorial Sports Complex na pagdarausan ng ibang laro sa nalalapit na 30th Southeast Asian Games.
“We renovate and refurbish the facilities because some of the sports like gymnastics, lawn tennis, soft tennis and judo will be played here. As host, it is our duty and responsibility to provide athletes from 11 participating countries complete satisfaction and first class playing venues,” sabi ni Ramirez.
“Of course, our national athletes should be provided decent quarters where they can rest comfortably after training,” aniya.
Kabilang sa mga pasilidad na aayusin ay ang basketball court na pagdarausan ng gymnastics at tennis court kung saan lalaruin ang lawn tennis at soft tennis.
“The interest of the athletes is my concern and priority because I was once an athlete during my student days before I became athletic director,” ani Ramirez.
Kamakailan ay ipinatawag si Ramirez sa Malakanyang para tanungin sa latest update and development sa SEA Games at inatasang ipa-renovate ang lahat ng pasilidad sa RMSC na gagamitin sa biennial meet na gaganapin sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre 11.
Mahigit 200 atleta ang nakatira sa compound ng RMSC, kasama ang mga lifters, sa pangunguna ni Brazil Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz, at mga atleta ng pencak silat. CLYDE MARIANO
