CLARK – Sisikapin ng pinagsamang mga baguhan at beterano na wakasan ang four-year gold medal drought ng Filipinas kapwa sa recurve at compound events sa pag-arangkada ng archery competition ng 30th Southeast Asian Games ngayon sa Clark Parade Grounds dito.

Ang 16-man national team ay pangu­ngunahan ni 2014 Asian Games bronze medalist Paul Marton dela Cruz, kasama sina 2014 Youth Olympic Games gold medal winner Gabriel Moreno at Olympian Jennifer Chan.

Ang medal match at awarding ay gaganapin sa December 8 at 9.

Tatrangkuhan ni Dela Cruz ang men’s compound team, kasama sina Johan Olano, Ro­berto Badiola at Arnold Rojas, habang ang four-man re-curve squad ay binubuo nina Moreno, Florante Matan, Jayson Feliciano at Carson Hastie.

Pagbibidahan ng 54-anyos na si Chan, isang three-time SEA Games gold medal winner, ang women’s compound team, kasama sina Andrea Robles, Rachelle Ann dela Cruz, at Abbigail Tinugduan habang ang women’s recurve team ay kinabibilangan nina Kareel Hongitan, Pia Bidaure, Phoebe Amostoso at Gabrielle Monica Bidaure.

Ang Filipino archers ay huling tumudla ng gold medal, na kaloob ng men’s compound team nina Earl Benjamin Yap, Ian Patrick Chipeco at Delfin Anthony Adrian sa 2013 SEA Games na idinaos sa Myanmar.

Sa huling edition ng biennial meet noong 2017 sa Malaysia, ang Filipino archers ay nagkasya sa isang silver at apat na bronze medals.

Mahigpit na makakalaban ng Team Philippines ang Malaysia, Vietnam at Singapore.
