WALONG personalidad ang ginawaran ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ng Gintong Gawad 2021 award sa isang simple ngunit makabuluhang seremonya sa tanggapan ng sports agency sa Manila kamakailan.
Matapos ang month-long search, walong role models ang napili makaraang iendorso ng kani-kanilang local government units — Kyla Soquilon, Rhea Haina Garcia, Amihan Reyes-Finis, Norma Alamara, Dr. Ma. Janelyn Fundal, Dr. Drolly Claravall, Jonathan Arias at ang Provincial Government of Pangasinan sa pamumuno ni Governor Amado Espino III.
Si Soquilon ay pinarangalan bilang Modelo ng Kabataan (swimming), habang kinilala sina Garcia bilang Gintong Atletang May Kapansanan (athletics); Finis, Gintong Tagasanay (rhythmic gymnastics); Alamara bilang Ina ng Isports sa Kumunidad; Claravall, Natatangi Makabagong Produkto Pang Isport at Arias para sa Proyektong Isport Pang Kabataan.
Si Espino ay ninombrahan ng Pangasinan Provincial Government dahil sa kanyang dedikasyon at debosyon sa sports kung saan sa ilalim ng kanyang administrasyon, ang lalawigan ay may 7,741 female beneficiary athletes at coaches.
Ang mga awardee ay tumanggap ng beautifully-crafted glass trophies at tig-P50,000 mula sa PSC. Ipinagkaloob ni Oversight Commissioner for Women in Sports Commissioner Dr. Celia Kiram ang awards sa presensiya nina PSC Chairman William Ramirez. Atty. Guillermo Iroy Jr., Merlita Ibay at iba pang distinguished guests.
Ang panel of judges ay kinabibilangan nina athletics legend Elma Muros-Posadas, two-times Paralymics bronze medalist Adeline Dumapong, Marilou Cantancio, Christine Abellana, Dr. Erdessa Fiordeliz, Salvacion de los Angeles at University of the Philippines Dean of Human Kenetics Francis Diaz.
“The judges thoroughly evaluated and scrutinized their track records and achievements to make sure they rightfully deserved the award,” wika ni Kiram.
“PSC envisioned the Gntong Gawad ostensibly to give due recognition to their valuable contributions as catalyst of sports in their respective places. Their good valuable achievements serve as good example and encourage people from all walks of life indulge actively in grassroots sports in their localities,” sabi pa ni Kiram. CLYDE MARIANO
