“Right now I think we’ll be keeping it that way,” wika ni Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu sa sidelines ng Bloomberg Industry 4.0 forum sa Taguig City kamakailan.
“We have already been preparing for this,” sabi ni Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei sa report ng Agence France-Presse.
“I believe on the network side, Huawei is really pretty much independent—when it comes to the cell site equipment, network equipment,” wika ni Cu.
“We’ve been in conversations with them, given the amount of concentration that we have with Huawei equipment,” ani Cu, at sinabing ang Huawei devices na nailabas na sa merkado ay hindi maaapektuhan ng mga bagong kaganapan.
“We’ve been assured by both Google and Huawei that the current handsets that have been already licensed by Google already in production in mar-ket will be safe. Pretty much they will go and remain status quo throughout the life of the device. Just use whatever Google services had been on the device until you throw the device away,” paliwanag niya.
“For us, given the fact that we have an extremely great relationship with Huawei for the last 10 years… We have a lot of information, they gave us pre-warnings… and assurance that they will be independent of the US in the near future.”
“We have a very extensive spending program this year, P63 billion capex. Majority of that will be Huawei equipment. And of course, our best-selling phones are Huawei phones. So we continue to support them,” dagdag pa ni Cu.
