Ito ang inihayag ni Pinay boxer Nesthy Petecio kasabay ng pangakong magbabalik siya sa Paris Olympics sa 2024 upang higitan ang silver medal na kanyang napanalunan sa katatapos na Tokyo Olympics.
Ayon kay Petecio, nais niyang maduplika ang tagumpay ni weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, na nanalo ng silver medal sa 2016 Rio Olympics bago umukit ng kasaysayan bilang kauna-unahang gold medalist ng Pilipinas sa qudrennial meet.
“Hahabulin kita, champ,” sabi ni Petecio kay Diaz, na kasama ang national boxing team sa special virtual session ng Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) online Forum kahapon.
Bukod kay Petecio ay nangako rin ang dalawa pang medal-winning boxers na sina Carlo Paalam (silver) at Eumir Marcial (bronze) na muling lalaban sa Paris Olympics.
Samantala, hindi pa tiyak ni Diaz kung magbabalik siya para sa Paris Olympics.
Ayon kay Diaz, 30, pag-iisipan pa niya kung sasabak siya para sa kanyang ika-5 sunod na Olympics at mag-tangka para sa isa pang gold.
“Pinag-iisipan ko pa. Kasi siyempre additional three years of sacrifices din ‘yun for training,” anang Olympic heroine sa forum na itinataguyod ng San Miguel Corporation (SMC), MILO, Amelie Hotel Manila, Braska Restaurant, at ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PACGOR).
