GROWTH FORECASTS PARA SA PH PINANATILI NG ADB

PINANATILI ng Asian Development Bank ang growth projections nito para sa bansa para sa 2021 at 2022.

Sa Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2021 Update nito na inilathala nitong Miyerkoles, sinabi ng regional lender na ang 4.5% at 5.5% forecasts nito ngayong taon at sa susunod ay hindi nagbago.

Gayunman, nagbabala pa rin ang ADB sa epekto ng global health crisis sa trajectory ng ekonomiya.

“The economy has regained its footing and is on the right growth path. But the recovery remains fragile due to the threat posed by more infectious COVID-19 variants,” sabi ni ADB Philippines country director Kelly Bird.

Binanggit din ng Manila-based organization ang mas mahihigpit na restrictions na naglalayong pigilan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19, lalo na sa Metro Manila.

Pinuna rin ng ADB ang mabagal na rollout ng gobyerno sa vaccination program nito, na nakatuon umano sa major urban areas tulad ng Metro Manila.

“The government forecasts that around 80% of the target population in Metro Manila will be fully vaccinated by the end of October, which helps improve the conditions for further easing of mobility restrictions that will help restore consumer and business confidence,” nakasaad sa report.

Ang projection ng ADB para ngayong taon ay pasok sa target band ng economic team, ngunit ang forecast para sa  2022 ay mas mababa sa range ng mga opisyal para sa susunod na taon.
