(Habang umiiral ang MECQ) WALANG PUTULAN NG TUBIG

INATASAN ng Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) ang Maynilad at Manila Water na palawigin ang suspensiyon ng service disconnection activities sa buong panahon ng modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) sa Metro Manila o hanggang sa katapusan ng Agosto.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ng MWSS RO na ang pagpuputol ng tubig ay dapat suspendihin hanggang sa alisin ang MECQ, at para matiyak ang water supply availability sa mga lugar na kanilang sineserbisyuhan.

Ang Metro Manila at Laguna ay isasailallm sa MECQ mula Agosto 21 hanggang 31 mula sa ECQ, ang pinakamahigpit na quarantine restrictions, noong Agosto 6-20.

Nauna na ring inatasan ng MWSS RO ang dalawang water concessionaires na suspendihin ang disconnection activities habang naka-ECQ ang Metro Manila.

Nakahanda naman ang Maynilad at Manila Water na sumunod sa naturang kautusan.

“We will comply with our regulators’ directive. Maynilad will suspend service disconnections during the MECQ, but meter reading activities will continue so that the bills customers receive bear their actual consumption. All meter readers are required to follow strict health and safety protocols,” sabi ng Maynilad sa isang statement.

Hiningi rin ng MWSS RO ang patuloy na kooperasyon at tulong ng mga kinauukulang local government units sa pag-sasagawa ng mga concessionaire ng meter reading at billing activities sa panahon ng MECQ.

“This is to enable the concessionaires to bill their customers based on actual water consumption, and to detect underground and after-the-meter leaks early, in order to prevent bill shock,” ayon sa ahensiya.

“In this critical time when public health relies on access to clean, safe, and sufficient water supply, the MWSS RO enjoins the public to conserve water by using this scarce resource responsibly and intelligently.”

“Rest assured that the agency will continue to implement proactive measures to make water available, accessible, and affordable for everyone, in its efforts to alleviate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” dagdag pa nito.
