HALAGA NG PALAY PRODUCTION BABABA

PINANGUNAHAN ni Sen. Cynthia Villar ang pagbubukas ng training course sa rice farm mechanization at  inbred at rice seeds production sa Villar SIPAG Farm School sa Bacoor, Cavite.

Sinabi ni Villar, chair ng Committee on Agriculture and Food, na bababa ang halaga ng produksiyon  ng palay dahil sa pagsasanay sa mga magsasaka sa mechanize farming practices at  paggawa ng certified inbred seeds.

“Through this training program, we are preparing our farmers to switch to the modern way of farming and help them to be able to compete against imported rice which will start coming in as a result of the expiration of the Quantitative Restriction on Rice, prescribed by WTO,” sabi pa ni Villar.

Isinagawa nang libre ang training program sa pakiki­pag-partner sa Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Philippine Center for Post-Harvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), at Agricultural Training Institute.

May 35 magsasaka mula sa Cordillera Autonomous Region at Regions 1, 2, 3, 4 at 5 ang kalahok  sa siyam na araw na training program. Gaganapin ang First Phase sa  February 4 to 7 at  Second Phase sa February 11 – 15.

Inaasahang magkakaroon ang mga kalahok ng kaalaman na makatutulong upang malalaki ang kanilang ani sa pamamagitan ng mechanization and production ng high quality inbred seeds.

“Once they graduate from the course, the participants are expected to also share their learnings in their respective communities and help us transform more farmers into seed growers engaged in seed production and trade,” ani Villar.

Sa ilalim ng rice tariffication bill na isinimute kay President Rodrigo Duterte para sa kanyang lagda, kabilang sa mga programang popon­dohan ang P10-billion Rice Compe­titiveness Enhancement Fund, ang development, propagation at promotion ng inbred rice seeds para sa mga magsasaka at farm mechanization programs.

Nakipag-partner ang Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG) sa PhilRice, PhilMech at ATI para  sa Training Course sa Rice Farm Mechanization at  Inbred at Rice Seeds Production.
