HINDI malilimutan ang August 9 para sa Philippine horseracing dahil pinasinayaan ang kauna-unahan nitong Off-Track Betting Station sa Iloilo.
Pormal na binuksan ng Gambit OTB ang pinto nito para sa racing afficionados sa isla noong nakaraang Miyerkoles kung saan dinaluhan ang okasyon ng mga karerista, sa pangunguna ng may-ari nito na si Carlo Armada at ni Philippine Racing Commission Chairman Aurelio P. De Leon.
“It is an honor for us that we in Iloilo are the first ones in the Visayas to have an OTB. We have always been fascinated by the excitement that horseracing brings to the public,” sabi ni Amada. “The opening of this OTB is a big step forward in bringing Philippine horseracing across the islands and we expect that there will be other OTB’s to follow in the rest of the country,” pahayag naman Chairman De Leon. Ang Gambit OTB ay matatagpuan sa Salazar Building sa tapat ng Cabatuan Public Market.
