MULING nanawagan ang mga residente ng Cerritos Heights, sa pamamagitan ng Cerritos Heights Homeowners Association Inc. (CHHAI), na payagan ang ibang internet service providers (ISPs) na makapagkabit ng fiber internet sa kanilang subdivision sa Molino 4, Bacoor City, Cavite.
Ayon sa CHHAI, ang Planet Cable lamang na pag-aari ng developer ng subdivision, ang tanging provider ng fixed internet sa Cerritos Heights Phases 1 at 2, Cerritos Terraces, at Cerritos Hills Phases 1, 2, at 3.
Ang panawagan ay ginawa ng mga residente matapos na harangin at pigilan umano ng mga security guard ng developer ng subdivision ang mga tauhan ng Globe Telecom sa paglalagay ng internret connection sa lugar noong nakaraang Martes.
“This week, a team of armed guards allegedly sent by Camella’s subsidiary practically shooed the Globe contractors away, telling them that they need a permit from Camella before they could proceed,” pahayag ni Toteng Tanglao, presidente ng CHHAI.
“The guards said they will not honor the notice to proceed issued by the HOA to Globe,” dagdag pa niya.

The need for reliable connectivity is even more pronounced today, especially as the uncertainty over the COVID-19 pandemic is forcing everyone to adapt to the new normal. This means work-from-home is no longer an option but a requirement in order to keep jobs. Students will also transition to online learning because this is now part of the Philippine education system,” pagbibigay-diin ng mga residente.
Nauna nang kinalampag ng CHHAI ang Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) upang aksiyunan ang monopolyo ng Planet Cable sa kanilang subdivision.
Naghain na rin ng petisyon ang grupo upang payagang makapasok ang ibang internet service providers sa subdividision at magkaroon ng ‘back up’ internet sakaling mawalan ng koneksiyon ang Planet Cable.
