AMINADO ang Bureau of Immigration na nahihirapan sila sa screening ng mga dayuhang nanggagaling sa South Korea sa harap ng ipinatutupad ng pamahalaan na partial travel ban sa nabanggit na bansa bunsod ng pinangangambahang coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Actually, that’s our difficulty in implementing the (travel ban) for those arriving (from South Korea) because what’s particular about this travel ban, it’s not the entire country but only selected areas in South Korea,” ayon kay Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval sa ginanap na press briefing kahapon sa Malakanyang.
Ayon kay Sandoval mas madali magmonitor ng mga dayuhang nanggagaling ng China, Hong Kong, at Macau sapagkat awtomatikong mapipigilan ng mga immigration personnel ang kanilang pagpasok sa bansa.
“This one, it’s not entire South Korea. So what we did is through the inter-agency, we coordinate with the South Korean government and they pledged to issue a certification to know if that person, that foreign national is coming from those areas,” wika ni Sandoval.
Pansamantala habang wala pa aniyang mekanismo ay ibinabatay lamang ng immigration personnel ang mga resident registration certificate o ‘di kaya naman ay ang national ID’s ng mga dayuhan upang malaman kung saan sila nakatira.
Nagpapatupad ang pamahalaan ng travel ban papasok ng bansa sa lahat ng mga foreigners mula sa North Gyeongsang province, Daegu at Cheongdo bunssod ng mataas na bilang ng COVID-19 cases sa mga nabanggit na lugar.
Ang mga papayagan lamang na makapasok sa bansa ay yaong mga Filipino citizens at pamilya nito at mga foreigners na may permanenteng Philippine permanent resident visas at mga miyembro ng diplomatic corps.
Samantala base sa latest record, sinabi ni Assistant Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire na nakapagtala ang Department of Health (DOH) ng 43 patients under investigation (PUIs) na posibleng COVID-19 infected 13 sa mga ito ang galing sa New Clark City repatriates habang may kabuuang 592 pasyente ang na-discharged na.
“The decrease in the number of patients under investigation being admitted is welcome news to all. This may be attributed to our strengthened surveillance, early travel restrictions and enhanced laboratory processes. But this is not enough reason to let our guards down, the DOH will continuously assess the situation and improve its surveillance protocols based on evidence and further developments,” sabi ni Vergeire.
Base rin sa DOH report, sinabi ni Vergeirena may kabuuang 86 confirmed COVID-19 cases sa mga overseas Filipinos sa buong mundo.
“Japan recorded the most overseas Filipino cases with a total of 80 from which 48 are still admitted and 32 had been discharged already; followed by UAE, Hong Kong, and Singapore with two cases each. The most recent case was a 41-year old Filipina who was admitted to a health facility in Singapore,” dagdag pa ni Vergeire
Sa ngayon ay may 58 bansa ang may kumpirmadong COVID-19 cases at 20 dito ang mayroon nang local transmission.
