Samantala, nasa 593 ang nangyaring pang-aabuso sa Asya at 86 ang sa Europa at Amerika.
Ayon din sa POLO, nasa 23,714 ang contract violations sa mga OFW sa mga bansa sa Middle East.
“Yung passport confiscation, hanggang ngayon sa Lebanon, buhay na buhay po ‘yan. The employer has the right to confiscate the passport or identification card of their migrant worker,” pahayag ni Villanueva.
Ayon naman kay Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola na ginagawan na nila paraan para ayusin ang naturang isyu sa Middle East subalit hindi pa rin maiiwasan ang mga pang-aabuso.
“We should really endeavor to limit our deployment up to a certain date to only skilled workers, otherwise, no matter what we do, we would always have abuses,”ani Arriola.
