UMAASA ang Insurance Commission (IC) na patuloy na magtatala ang insurance industry ng double-digit growth sa first half ng taon.
Ayon kay Insurance Commissioner Dennis B. Funa, kumpiyansa siya na magpoposte ang insurance industry ng double-digit growth sa first half ng 2018, mula sa magandang performance na ipinamalas ng life, nonlife, at mutual benefit associations (MBAs) sa first quarter ng taon.
“Well we are hoping [for double digit growth in the first half], but of course the first quarter was very good, there’s no indication that the second quarter will not be good,” ani Funa.
Noong Mayo, iniulat ng IC na ang total premium ng insurance industry sa first quarter ay nagtala ng double-digit increase na 34.38 percent sa P76.64 billion, mula sa P57.04 billion na naiposte sa kaparehong panahon noong 2017, kung saan ang lahat ng tatlong sektor ay nagpakita ng malakas na performances.
“Broken down, the life-insurance sector posted P61.79 billion in premiums collected as of end-March up by 40.18 percent, as well as the premiums of the nonlife insurance sector growing by 13.29 percent to P12.34 billion. Income generated from contributions or premiums by MBAs reached P2.51 billion in the first three months of the year posting an expansion of 21.75 percent.” REA CU
