NASA P2 bilyong tulong pinansiyal ang ipinamahagi ng Department of Tourism (DOT) sa may 506,415 manggagawa sa industriya na nawalan ng trabaho sa gitna ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Ayon kay Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, sa ilalim ng Bayanihan 2, may P3.1 billion ang inilaan sa ahensiya para sa cash aid sa mga manggagawa na tinamaan ng pandemya.

Aniya, nasa  P6 billion ang inilaan bilang working capital loan para sa small and medium enterprises na walang interest, walang kolateral at maaaring bayaran sa loob ng apat na taon.

Sinabi ni Romulo-Puyat na tinatayang nasa 4.8 milyon ng kabuuang 5.7 million workforce ng sektor ang tinamaan ng pandemya.

“Nung  February, we were able to include our tourism frontliners sa priority list sa vaccination,” aniya.

“Naisama na rin ang ibang tourism frontliners. Ang mga nasa restaurants, drivers, media. We are fighting of course na sana all.”
