DAHIL sa patuloy na nararanasang pandem­ya dala ng COVID-19, nagkukumahog ngayon ang city government of Manila para makapagpatayo agad sa loob ng dalawang buwan ng isa pang hospital sa Maynila na eksklusibo para sa COVID-19 cases.

Ito ang nakikitang paraan ng pamahalaang lungsod upang paluwagin ang anim na city-run hospitals at upang ang mga COVID bed allocation ay mapakinabangan ng mga nasa severe at critical conditions at gawin din ito bilang intensive care units (ICUs).

Ayon kay Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, ang ika-pitong pagamutan ng lungsod ay tatawa­ging “Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital,” at ito ay itatayo sa 2.6-ektaryang lupa at magkakaroon ng 336 COVID beds para sa lahat ng mga pasyenteng nasa mild at moderate cases.

Lubhang naapektuhan si Moreno sa mga ulat na may mga pasyente na namamatay sa tents at maging sa parking lot dahil sa hindi maiiwasang punuan ng mga ospital sa gitna ng ‘surge’ sa CO­VID-19 cases kamakailan.

Nitong nagdaang linggo ay personal na binisita ni Moreno at Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna ang lugar na pagtatayuan ng itatayong field hospital na bubuuin sa pamamagitan ng containers na iko-convert bilang pagamutan.

Ito ay itatayo sa Burnham Green sa mismong tapat ng Quirino Grandstand at sa harap ng lugar kung saan ginagawa ang mga parada kapag mayroong national events. Dito rin matatagpuan ang free drive-thru swabbing center ng lungsod .

Nabatid na nagsagawa ng brainstorming ang mga opisyal ng lokal na pamahalaang upang linisin ang plano at iba pang pangangailangan para sa itatayong bagong ospital.

Nais ni Moreno na gawing magdamagan ang pagtatrabaho sa bagong ospital dahil mahalaga ang oras.
Sa ilalim ng plano, ang lahat ng asymptomatic patients ay ilalagay sa quarantine facilities ng lungsod habang ang mga mild at moderate symptoms ay ilalagay sa field hospital at ang mga severe at critical conditions ay dadalhin sa city hospitals.

Ani Moreno, kinop­ya niya ang ideya mula sa Italy kung saan ang architect nito ay gumawa ng konseptong ‘open source’ para ma-duplicate ito kahit saan.

Idinagdag din ng alkalde na nakipag-ugnayan din sila sa mga opisyal ng Philippine General Hospital (PGH) upang ikonsulta ang nasabing pagtatayo ng field hospital.
