JAPAN TOP PROVIDER NG ODA SA PINAS

NANANATILING top source ng official development assistance (ODA) ng Filipinas ang Japan hanggang noong Setyembre 2018, ayon sa National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

Sa ulat ng NEDA, ang Japanese loans at grants ay nasa  $5.98 billion, na bumubuo sa 41.20 percent ng total ODA portfolio ng bansa.

Pumapangalawa sa Japan ang World Bank na may $3.13 billion o 21.56 percent ng kabuuan, kasunod ang Asian Development Bank sa $2.24 billion o 15.44 percent ng kabuuan.

Ang Estados Unidos ang fourth largest provider ng ODA sa $807 million, na bumubuo sa 5.56 percent ng kabuuan, habang panlima ang South Korea sa $660 million o 4.55 percent ng kabuuan.

Ang iba pang ODA providers sa Filipinas ay ang EU, Italy, Spain, China, France, Canada, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, United Nations System, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank at OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

“The total net commitment of the country’s active ODA portfolio as of September 2018, based on the data generated in December 2018, reached $14.5 billion, with total grants amounting to $2.22 billion and total loans amounting to $12.28 billion,” pahayag ng NEDA.

Isa sa pinakahuling proyekto na tinustusan ng Japan ay ang first phase ng  P50-billion Metro Manila Subway,  na isasagawa ang ground breaking sa kaagahan ng 2019.

“As we assess 2018, we look at our development partners full of appreciation and gratitude. They have been constantly beside us in our efforts to pursue much-needed reforms, and both social and physical infrastructures to reach our goals,” ani Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia.

“The government must take the lead in ensuring that these projects will create lasting change in the lives of Filipino people,” dagdag pa niya.
