PARIS — Dinurog ni Rafael Nadal ng Spain si world number one Novak Djokovic ng Serbia, 6-0 6-2 7-5, sa French Open final upang kunin ang record-equalling 20th Grand Slam title noong Linggo.
Sa kanyang record-improving 13th triumph sa Roland Garros, si world number two Nadal ay katabla ngayon ni Swiss Roger Federer sa may pinakamaraming men’s singles major titles.
“First of all of course congrats to Novak for another great tournament, sorry for today,” sabi ni Nadal, na tinalo si Djokovic sa lahat ng ka-nilang tatlong French Open finals.
“In Australia (in the final in 2019) he killed me. We’ve played so many times, one day one wins, another day the other wins.”
Si Djokovic ay nanalo sa limang sunod na Grand Slam finals magmula nang talunin ni Stan Wawrinka sa 2016 Australian Open.
Hindi naman iniisip ng 34-anyos na si Nadal na pantayan ang record ni Federer.
“To win here means everything. I don’t think today about the 20th and equal Roger on this great number, today is just a Roland Garros victo-ry and that means everything to me,” pahayag ng world number two.
