CEBU CITY – Nagpasiklab sina Jung Hoon at Lee Yee-un ng South Korea sa Standard Adult category upang mapanatili ang titulo sa World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Cebu Open 2024 noong Linggo ng gabi.
Ipinakita ang kanilang mastery sa Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot at Quickstep, pinahanga ng Koreans ang mga judge, gayundin ang crowd sa ballroom ng Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino sa Lahug.
“We expected to win because we came prepared for this tournament,” sabi ni 25-year-old Lee, isanf senior high school teacher tulad ni Jung, 29.
“We practice four hours every day, morning and evening, in the afternoon, we teach,” dagdag pa niya.
Sina Lee at Jung ay nagsimulang magkasamang magsayaw noong 2022, kung saan nagwagi sila sa King’s Cup sa Thailand.
Nagkasya sina Filipinos Sean Aranar at Ana Nualla, triple-gold winners sa Vietnam SEA Games, sa ikalawang puwesto, na sinundan nina Chinese pair Sun Yulong at Li Jinming.
Nadominahan din ng Koreans ang Latin category, kung saan nagpakitang-gilas sina Hwang Yousung at Jung Eun-ji sa Samba, Chacha, Rumba, Paso Doble at Jive.
Pumangalawa sina SEAG medalists Wilbert Aunzo at Pearl Marie Cañeda, kapwa ipinagmamalaki ng Cebu City, habang pumangatlo sina Jefferson Pimentel at Mary Desiree Seraga.
“What a super successful event, well-organized, very good working team. Congratulations Cebu team, PSC Commissioner Ed Hayco and wife Eleonor, and (project director and tournament manager) Loloi Rendon,” wika ni Philippine DanceSport Federation, Inc. (PDSF) president Becky Garcia.
Sinabi ni Hayco, founder ng Dancesport Team Cebu City (DTCC) at kilalang “Father of Cebu Dancesport,” na ang WDSF Cebu Open ay bahagi ng grassroot program ng bansa.
“The primary purpose of this event is to inspire the youth, especially the juvenile (12 years old and below), to aim higher and to learn from the best in the world,” aniya.
