LARGEST CRAYFISH PARTY IN ASIA

Nordic Chamber of Commerce had their yearly Crayfish Party last Saturday, September 14, 2019. For the last four years it has become larger and this time 1,200 people enjoyed the festivities of a Viking Party.

Hosted by Nord­Cham Philippines, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel and the Philippine Norway Business Council, the grand Nordic feast was the largest crayfish party in Asia that attended by high profile guests, celebrities, media at expatriates that reside in Manila. Celebrated in Viking style, wines, foods and music were overflowing.

To raise money for the “Chosen Children Village” in Cavite as beneficiary there was an auction too. Different companies like Sofitel Hotel accommodation, Atmosphere Resort & Spa, Turkish Airline. Swedish visual artist and musician Jeanette Kamphuis tried to figure out how to contribute so she painted a 24” x 24” acrylic mixed media on canvas that was auctioned out. The happy new owner of the “Nordic Tree of life” was nonetheless the country manager of the Swedish company IKEA.

A great number of the Finish crowd and embassy showed great interest in Jeanette exhibit of 14 other minds “stimulating paintings” as the audience expressed it.

CRAYFISH-3Crayfish Party is a traditional Swedish eating and drinking celebration, symbolizing the end of summer for Nordic countries, usually in August.

Crayfish also are known as crawfish or freshwater lobster, is bigger than shrimp and smaller than lobster, and is endemic to Norway.

The Crayfish Party has been arranged in Manila for the past 15 years, first by Scandinavian Society of the Philippines and now by NordCham Philippines.

The Nordic countries are generally considered as Nordic is Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, including their associated territories (Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the Åland Islands).
