NAGPAHAYAG ang ilang bansa ng pagnanais na makilahok sa mga proyekto sa Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC), na naglalayong pagdugtungin ang Subic Bay, Clark, Manila, at Batangas sa high-impact infrastructure projects, kabilang ang ports at railways.
Ang mga kinatawan mula sa Australia, South Korea, Sweden, at United Kingdom ay napaulat na nagpahayag ng posibleng partnerships sa LEC, sa isang joint exploratory meeting sa Malacañang noong nakaraang linggo.
Tinukoy ni Australian Charge d’Affaires Moya Collet ang pokus sa pagpapalawak ng trade and investment ties sa Pilipinas, kung saan nakatakdang mag-invest ang naturang bansa ng mahigit P20 billion upang tulungan ang bansa na makamit ang development goals nito sa susunod na limang taon.
Inihayag ni Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-Hwa ang commitments sa sustainable infrastructure investments, kasama ang partnerships na may kinalaman sa Light Rail Transit, North-South Commuter Railway Project, at sa Laguna Lakeshore Road Network.
Binanggit naman ni Sweden Trade Commissioner Johan Lennefalk ang commitment na isulong ang inclusive economic growth, at initiatives kabilang ang feasibility study para sa isang freight railway project, at mga proyekto sa healthcare at mining.
Tinukoy ni Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Philippines Laure Beaufils ang nagpapatuloy na investments sa renewable energy, green infrastructure, at transport, kasama ang financing ng sustainable development initiatives sa mining at technical security partnerships.
“The LEC, which is the first of its kind in the Indo-Pacific Region, has been gaining ground and receiving strong support from its partners,” wika ni Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go.
“We are happy that several other countries have signified their desire to contribute to the development of the Corridor,” dagdag pa niya.
Ang LEC ay isang partnership sa United States at Japan, na inanunsiyo sa Trilateral Leaders’ Summit sa Washington DC noong nakaraang Abril.
“The commitment from these like-minded partners signals a robust future for the LEC, promising enhanced infrastructure, sustainable development, and strengthened economic ties across borders,” ani Go.
