The Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) Officer-In-Charge Eileen L. Dela Vega reported the launch of its third webinar on water education to promote the importance of conserving water, maintaining personal hygiene, protecting the environment and groundwater resources during its online campaign recently to raise awareness on the country’s dwindling water supply and ongoing pandemic.
The webinar, dubbed Buhay KYUT (Kalusugang Yaman Ugnay sa Tubig) Online, focused on WASH Education and was attended by more or less 200 participants, composed of public elementary and high school teachers from Puerto Princesa City, as well as other partners and stakeholders, to learn new creative ways to teach hygiene and sanitation practices among learners, as well as a clean and safe environment in school.
Among the resource speakers are Andrea Beatriz L. Lee-Llacer, Health Program Officer II, Program Implementation and Outreach Div., Dept. of Health (DOH); Joseph Rosmon A. Tuazon, Head Advocacy, Maynilad Water Services, Inc.; Dr. Oliver B. Sta Ana, Head, Academic Services, Maynilad Water Academy; and Ronaldo Carcamo, Ventriloquist. The online program was hosted by Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD) with the support of GM Walter J. Laurel.
Dela Vega emphasized the importance of this program in reducing morbidity and mortality among schoolchildren caused by poor hygiene and sanitation practices, as well as the lack of safe water and sanitation facilities. “This LWUA information campaign is aggressive in encouraging teachers, educators and other stakeholders to join us as partners in this program”, Dela Vega said.
LWUA collaborated with the PPCWD, DOH, Maynilad Water Services Inc., Maynilad Water Academy, Global Water Partnership, and Pilipino Mirror for this online learning event via Zoom.
