ON THE heels of the success and popularity of community pantries across the country, Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) joined the movement recently and donated basic goods for indigent residents. This was held at the LWUA-MWSS Compound in Balara, Quezon City.

LWUA acting administrator Jeci A. Lapus approved this project as a way of helping residents living in the nearby barangays who were displaced from their jobs and means of livelihood because of the lockdown and work stoppage imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to curb the spread of COVID-19 virus.

Basic needs like rice, canned foods, vegetables, and other essentials were given out starting in the early morning until supplies lasted in this one-week long activity. The food items were donated by the officials and employees of LWUA Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Corporate Office, MWSS Regulatory Office, Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC), Water and Sewerage Sector Savings and Loan Association (WASSLAI), National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), Maynilad, Manila Water Co., and Luzon Clean Water Development Corp. More than a thousand families benefited from this initiative.
