(Mababayaran na) – ECC DEATH, DISABILITY HABANG ‘WFH’

ANG mga empleyado na nasawi o nagtamo ng disability dahil sa injuries habang work from home ay maaari na ngayong makatanggap ng mga benepisyo mula sa Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC).

Sa isang statement, sinabi ng ECC na inaprubahan ng Governing Board nito ang Resolution No. 21-03-09 noong Marso 11. Ang public at private sector employees ay kapwa maaaring mag-apply para sa kabayaran.

“Disability or death due to injuries sustained by the employees while working from home will be compensable under ECP, provided that there is a written directive or order from his or her employer requiring a work-from-home arrangement or the performance of specific tasks within a specified period at the residence or dwelling place of the employee,” nakasaad sa resolution.

Ayon kay ECC executive director Stella Zipagan-Banawis, ngayon ang tamang panahon para maglabas ang komisyon ng polisiya bilang pagkilala sa bago at alternatibong pamamaraan ng pagtatrabaho ng mga empleyado.

“As the policy arm of the ECP, we want to make sure that our program remains relevant and responsive to the needs of our workers and the demands of the working environment,” aniya.

Idinagdag niya na dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic ay napilitan ang mga industriya na pag-aralan ang kanilang work arrangements, kabilang ang pagpapatupad ng work-from-home policy para mapangalagaan ang kalusugan ng kanilang mga empleyado at mabawasan ang transmisyon ng virus.

“Employees who are working from home are not exempted from possible work-connected disabilities or death due to injury-related incidents. We need to extend our benefits to cover work-connected injury or death that they may suffer while in the performance of their duties or specific tasks at their residences or dwelling places,” ani Banawis.

Sa ilalim ng programa, ang mga manggagawa na nagtamo ng work-related sickness, injury, o death, ay maaaring makatanggap ng EC benefits tulad ng loss of income benefits, medical benefits, at death and funeral benefits.

“Persons with work-related disabilities may also avail of rehabilitation services under the Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) program.”

Ang rehabilitation services ay kinabibilangan ng libreng physical, speech, o occupational therapy, assistive devices at livelihood training at financial assistance.
