MADRIGAL ‘MALAPIT’ NA SA AFP CHIEF OF STAFF

CAMP AGUINALDO – KUMALAT kahapon na may nahirang nang bagong  pinuno ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa katauhan ni  Lt.  Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr., ang hepe ng Eastern Min­danao Command.

Isang ulat ang nag-quote kay Interior Secretary Eduardo Año  na sinabi umano nito na si  Madrigal ng PMA Class 85 ang hinirang na bagong AFP chief of Staff na papalit kay AFP Chief of Staff, Gen Carlito Galvez Jr., na magreretiro sa Disyembre 12.

Tumanggi naman si Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana na kumpirmahin ang sinasabing pahayag ni SILG Año .

“Maybe he has inside info, I have to see the signed designation. But he is the front runner,” ayon kay Lorenzana.

Reserba naman ang tugon ni AFP Spokesman BGen. Edgard Arevalo at sinabing hintayin muna ang formal announcement.

“Sakaling si Lt. Gen.  Madrigal umano ang mahihirang bilang da­ting Eastmincom commander, very adept in triad operation with his boots firmly grounded. He is highly regarded and respected by his classmates and even by his seniors, he is both and administrator and a manager,”  ayon kay Lt. Col. Noel Detoyato, hepe ng AFP-Public Affairs Office.

Kabilang naman sa  top contenders sina  Philippine Army Chief. Lt. Gen. Macairog Sabiano Alberto na dating military intelligence chief at kasapi ng PMA Class 1986, habang sa Philippine Navy ay sina Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad at Vice admiral Giovanni Jovy Bacordo at Philippine Air Force chief, Lt. Gen. Galileo Gerard Kintanar PMA 1985, WESTCOM Chief Lt. Gen Arnel B Dela Vega PMA Class 85. VERLIN RUIZ
