MAHIGIT sa 1.6 million international travelers ang dumating sa Pilipinas magmula nang muling buksan ang leisure travel noong Pebrero, ayon sa Department of Tourism (DOT).
Sa pagdinig sa Senado ay iniulat ni DOT Secretary Christina Frasco na may kabuuang 1,664,550 international arrivals ang naitala hanggang Oktubre 5.
Lubha itong mataas kumpara sa 163,879 international tourist arrivals noong pandemic-hit 2021.
“Please note that for the internal projections of the DOT, we projected that we would only receive 1.7 million tourists by December of this year,” sabi ni Frasco.
“Therefore, this shows an upward trend in arrivals and the present strategies we have recalibrated and applied since the beginning of this administration have led to an upsurge in arrivals and will allow us to exceed present projections of 1.7 million by the end of the year,” aniya.
Ayon kay Frasco, ang United States ang nangunguna sa pinagmulan ng international travelers na may 315,279, sumusunod ang Korea na may 220,402; Australia na may 77,249; Canada, 70,159; at United Kingdom na may 63,533.
