Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate brand of public service, personally brought assistance to thousands of residents from indigent sectors in Angeles City, Pampanga.
The distribution event, held at the Barangay Malabanias covered court on Friday, November 15, provided aid to 1,600 impoverished individuals.
The beneficiaries received grocery packs, snacks, vitamins, masks, shirts, and sports equipment such as basketballs and volleyballs from Senator Go. Selected recipients were also given bicycles, shoes, and mobile phones as part of the senator’s effort to bring a sense of hope and relief to the community.
Through the collective efforts of Senator Go, in partnership with Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. and Vice Mayor Vicky Vega, the beneficiaries also received financial support from the local government.
“Mga kababayan ko, patuloy lang po tayong magtulungan at magmalasakit sa ating kapwa. Sa pamamagitan ng pagkakaisa, tiyak na mas magiging matatag tayo sa ating pag-ahon,” he said.
As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go reminded residents about the availability of Malasakit Centers in the province. “Kung kayo po ay nangangailangan ng tulong medikal, huwag po kayong mag-atubiling pumunta sa ating Malasakit Centers. Ang programang ito ay para po sa lahat, lalo na sa mga mahihirap,” he added.
The Malasakit Center program, which began in 2018, now operates 166 centers nationwide, making medical assistance more accessible to Filipinos. In Pampanga, Malasakit Centers are available at Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles City and Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and the Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital and Diagnostic Center, both in San Fernando City.
These centers provide a one-stop shop for patients to access medical assistance programs offered by various government agencies.
Go also personally checked the operations of Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center on the same day and even served meals to the patients and watchers while also providing various forms of support to select hospital staff.
Go also expressed gratitude to Angeles City officials for their unwavering support of initiatives that benefit their constituents. Before ending his message, Go reaffirmed his commitment to the Filipino people, saying, “Patuloy po akong magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko na po ang magserbisyo. Kayo po ang inspirasyon ko sa pagtupad ng aking tungkulin. Maraming salamat po.”
Senator Bong Go’s visit to Angeles City is another testament to his commitment to serving the Filipino people, especially the underprivileged. His call for unity, compassion, and resilience continues to inspire hope and solidarity across the nation.
