IKAKASAL sina Maguindanao Se­cond District Representative Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu, 53, kay Miss Asia Pacific International 2018 Sharifa Akeel, 24, ngayong Miyerkules, August 25 via Walima Celebration, ganap na ika-10:00 ng umaga.”

Ang “Walima Celeb­ration” ay isang uri ng seremonya kung saan ang Islam wedding ay kaila­ngang ideklara sa publiko. Ang public declaration ay ginagawa sa pamamagitan ng pagpaplano ng Muslim wedding reception upang ipaalam sa publiko na masaya ang dalawang ika­kasal. Gaganapin ang Islam wedding sa Al Nor Hotel & Convention Center sa Cotabato City.

Naging kontrobersiyal ang relasyon nina Mangudadatu at Sharifa dahil umalma ang isa pang asawa ni Toto na si Mylene Maligaya-Ma­ngudadatu, ngunit walang nagyari, dahil pinapayagan ang mga lalaking Muslim na magkaroon ng hanggang apat na asawa. Si Mylene ay kasaluku­yang konsehal sa First District ng Muntinlupa City. Naging kandidata rin siya sa Binibining Pi­lipinas 2006, at ginawaran ng special award na Miss Friendship.

Si Sharifa naman ay Filipino-Qatari at kinoronahang Miss Asia Pacific International noong 2018, na tubong-Sultan Kudarat.

Kilala naman natin si Mangudadatu mula sa kontrobersyal na Maguin­danao Massacre, kung saan pinatay ang mahigit 25 journalist at napakaraming supporters ni Mangundadato kasama na ang kanyang unang asawa na si Genalyn Mangudadatu. Nagsilbi siyang mayor sa Buluan, Maguindanao noong 1998 hanggang 2007. Pagkatapos ng kanyang termino, tumakbo siyang vice mayor sa nasabing bayan at naglingkod mula 2007 hanggang 2010. Naging gobernador siya ng Maguindanao mula 2010 hanggang 2019, at naihalal na congressman noong 2019 elections.
