PINAGTIBAY na sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang Boracay Island Development Autho­rity (BIDA) Bill.

Sa botong 192 na sang-ayon at pitong tutol ay naaprubahan sa pinal na pagbasa ng Kamara ang panukala na magsusulong at magpapabilis sa tuloy-tuloy na pag-unlad ng isla.

Ang BIDA Act ay kabilang sa priority le­gislation ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Sa isinusulong na panukala, ang BIDA na siyang government-owned and controlled corporation ang mangangasiwa, magpapaunlad, magpapatakbo, magpapanatili at magsasagawa ng rehabilitasyon sa Boracay Island Development Zone.

Kasama rito ang buong isla ng Boracay at maging mga maliliit na isla kabilang ang Bara­ngay Caticlan.

Ang nasabing deve­lopment zone ay magbabagong anyo bilang isang self-sustaining industrial, commercial, leisure, financial, at invest­ment center.

Magiging daan ito para makapagbigay ng maraming trabaho at makahikayat ng mara­ming mamumuhunan, local man o foreign investment.

Bubuo rin ng Boracay Action Plan kung saan tinitiyak ang pagpaprayoridad sa pagbibigay proteksyon at preservation ng likas yaman gayundin ang biodiversity ng Boracay Island kasabay ng pagbalanse ng development sa isla.

Layunin din ng panukala na magkaroon ng responsible tourism kung saan kasama ang mga komunidad at mga indigenous people sa mangangalaga ng biophysical at cultural diversity ng isla. CONDE BATAC
