INAASAHANG sasamahan ni Olympic-bound Filipino boxer Eumir Felix Marcial ang Philippine team sa kanilang nalalapit na training camp sa Thailand.
Si Marcial ay nasa United States magmula noong October 2020, ilang buwan makaraang maging professional.
Nagsasanay siya sa Wild Card Gym sa Los Angeles, at sumalang sa kanyang pro debut noong December kung saan naitala niya ang unanimous decision win laban kay Andrew Whitfield.
Ayon kay Ricky Vargas, presidente ng Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP), plano ni Marcial na samahan ang national boxing team sa Thailand para paigtingin ang kanyang paghahanda para sa Tokyo Olympics.
“We’ve assured him that we will fly him from Los Angeles all the way to Thailand. Just let us know, we’ll provide you the ticket, we’ll bring you there,” pahayag ni Vargas sa “The Chasedown.”
“We explained to him also the kind of training program that we want him to undergo. Our coaches have seen his fights, his professional fights. They’ve also seen kung sino ‘yung competition niya (sa Olympics),” dagdag pa ni Vargas.
Ang mga miyembro ng PH boxing team ay kasalukuyang nasa Inspire Sports Academy sa Calamba, Laguna para sa training camp. Tutungo sila sa Thailand sa katapusan ng buwan para sa six-week camp.
Inaasahang sasama sa camp si Olympic-bound Irish Magno, gayundin sina Carlo Paalam at Nesthy Petecio, kapwa Olympic hopefuls. CLYDE MARIANO
