SUMAKABILANG-BUHAY na si business leader George S.K. Ty, founder ng Metrobank group.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Founder and Group Chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty,” sabi ng Metrobank sa isang statement.
“He was surrounded by family and loved ones at the time. He was 86 years old,” ayon sa bangko.
Magsisimula ang memorial services sa Linggo, Nobyembre 25, sa Heritage Park sa Taguig City.
Kapalit ng mga bulaklak, tatanggapin ang mga donasyon sa Philippine National Red Cross, CBCP Caritas Filipinas Foundation, at Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation bilang pagpupugay sa diwa ng kanyang kagandahang-loob at alaala.
Itinayo ni Ty ang Metrobank noong 1962 at pinalago ang bangko upang umabot ito sa ibayong dagat.
Kabilang sa Metrobank Group ang 18 domestic subsidiaries, partners at affiliates sa iba’t ibang industriya at 32 foreign branches, subsidiaries at representative offices.
Si Ty ay de facto chairman emeritus magmula noong 2008 at pinamumunuan ng kanyang mga anak na sina Arthur at Alfred ang maraming kompanya sa group.
“Ty was recognized not only for his exemplary achievements in business but also for his generous philanthropy through the Metrobank Foundation. His commitment to contribute to the Philippines’ economic prosperity as well as to nation-building will continue to be lived by the Group,” ayon pa sa Metrobank.
