MAPAPANOOD na sa labas ng bansa ang sampung official entries para sa Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) makaraang magbukas ang Manila International Film Festival sa TCL Chinese Theaters sa Holywood Boulevard.
Ang sampung pelikula na i-screen sng MIFF sa America ay ang Becky and Badette, Broken Heart’s Trip, Family of Two (A Mother and Son Story), Firefly, GomBurZa, (K)Ampon, Mallari, Penduko, Rewind, at When I Met You in Tokyo.
Ang nasabing pelikula ay bibigyan ng bukod na parangal mula sa Metropolitan Manila Film FestivaL (MMFF) awards na ibinigay noong December 2023.
Habang itinalaga naman bilang hurado sa pagpili ng mga mananalo sa siyam na katergorya ang Filipino Americans na kasama sa film industry.
Ang mga MIFF juror ay sina Marie Jamora, head of the jury; Mari Acevedo. Leah Anova, Reggie Lee, David Maquiling at Sumalee Montano.
“These awards, which will be given in a star-studded closing night awards gala at the Directors Guild of America on Sunset Boulevard, include, Best Picture, where the winner will be given the opportunity to make a US-based feature film co-produced by Birns & Sawyer. It will award up to $100,000 worth of camera rental equipment with the support of other industry vendors. The package is valued overall at $200,000 with the support of industry partners , Atlas Lens Co., BlackOps Studios Asia, CMB Film Services, Inc., and Myriad Entertainment USA,” pahayag ng MIFF.
Magkakaroon ding ng Special Jury Prize, na pipiliin ng jury at mabibigyam mg recognition at ang mga ito ay Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay at Best Cinematography.
Sinabi ni Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Acting Chairman at concurrent MMFF Overall Chairman Atty. Romando Artes na may mahalagang gagampanan ang MIFF upang maiangat ang kalidad ng mga pelikulang Pilipino upang mapanood ng dayuhang movie goer. EC
