Ayon kay Puyat, may 203,334 approved applicants naman ang naghihintay na maipalabas ang financial aid na nagkakahalagang P1.1 billion.
Aniya, inaprubahan ng DOT at ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang financial assistance application ng 575,919 tourism workers .
Nagkakahalaga ito ng P2.8 billion na cash aid mula sa P3 billion na inilaan para sa tourism workers sa ilalim ng Bayanihan To Recover As One Law o ang Bayanihan 2 Act.
Gayunman, sinabi ng kalihim na ang P3 billion allocation ay hindi sapat para sa lahat ng manggagawa sa industriya ng turismo.
“Kulang na kulang pa because as of 2019, 5.7 million people had jobs because of tourism,” aniya.
