NAKAPAGTALA ang bansa ng $3.1 billion balance of payments (BOP) surplus noong Enero 2023, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Ito ay reversal ng $102 million BOP deficit na naitala sa kaparehong buwan noong nakaraang taon.

“The BOP surplus in January 2023 reflected inflows arising mainly from the National Government’s (NG) net foreign currency deposits with the BSP, which include proceeds from its issuance of ROP Global Bonds, and net income from the BSP’s investments abroad,” ayon sa central bank.

Kasunod ng BOP surplus, ang gross international reserves ng bansa ay tumaas sa $100.7 billion hanggang end-January 2023 mula $96.1 billion hanggang end-December 2022

Ang latest GIR level ay katumbas ng 7.6 buwang halaga ng imports ng goods at payments ng services at primary income.

Ayon sa BSP, ito’y 6.2 beses din ng short-term external debt ng bansa base sa original maturity at 4.1 ulit base sa residual maturity.
