NAKAPAGTALA ang bansa ng balance of payments (BOP) surplus na $1.3 billion noong nakaraang buwan, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Mas mataas ito kumpara sa $754 million na naitala sa kaparehong panahon noong nakaraang taon.

Ayon sa central bank, ang kabuuan noong Marso ay nagdala sa kasalukuyang January-March BOP level sa $3.5 billion surplus, mas mataas ng $495 million kumpara sa kahalintulad na panahon noong nakaraang taon.

“Based on preliminary data, the cumulative BOP surplus reflected inflows that stemmed mainly from personal remittances, net foreign borrowings by the NG, and foreign direct investments,” ayon sa BSP.

Samantala, tumaas ang gross international reserves (GIR) level ng bansa sa $101.5 billion noong Marso mula $98.2 billion noong Pebrero.

“The latest GIR level represents more than adequate external liquidity buffer equivalent to 7.6 month’s worth of imports of goods and payments of services and primary income. It is also 6.1 times the country’s short-term external debt based on original maturity and 4.2 times based on residual maturity,” ayon sa BSP.
