AABOT sa P19.95 billion ang halaga ng smuggled goods na nakumpiska ng Bureau of Customs (BoC) sa unang walong buwan ng taon.

Ayon sa BOC, ang mga produkto ay nasamsam sa  615 operasyon mula Enero 1 hanggang Agosto 23 buhat sa illegal shipments ng narcotics, counterfeit goods, cigarettes at iba pang tobacco products.

Ang mga pekeng produkto ang bumubuo sa three-fourths ng halaga ng mga nakumpiskang smuggled goods sa P15 billion, kasunod ang illegal drugs na nagkakahalaga ng P1.88 billion.

Nakakumpiska rin ang Customs sa parehong panahon ng mga puslit na sigarilyo at iba pang tobacco products na nagkakahalaga ng P1.23 billion.

Sa kanyang report sa Department of Finance (DOF), sinabi ni BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero na nakakumpiska rin ang ahensiya ng iba pang smuggled goods, kabilang ang general merchandise (P887.61 million), agricultural products (P267.27 billion), at used clothing (P56.63 million).

Nakakumpiska rin ang BoC ng P290 million na currency, alahas, fuel, chemicals, at steel products.
