DUBBED as the “Arts and Soldiers in the Reserve Force,” the Philippine Navy (PN), through the Naval Reserve Command (NRC), spearheaded the first ever art exhibit in a military camp which features the artworks of PN reserv-ists.
The said exhibit opened last February 20, at the NRC headquarters here graced by the PN Flag Officer in Command, Rear Adm. Giovanni Carlo Bacordo as the guest of honor and speaker.
In his speech, Rear Admiral Bacordo lauded “the efforts of the Naval Reserve Command in initiating the first ever Arts Exhibition of our PN Reservists in the history of the organization”.
The exhibit is in collaboration with the Tagapagtaguyod ng Sining at Kultura ng Pilipinas being chaired by PN reservist, Cdr. Flordeliza Villaseñor.
It features the art works of Commander Villaseñor, reservist-artists, and other prominent artists. Cultural performances were also rendered by various performers coming from the cities of Marikina, Mandaluyong and Quezon.
Moreover, The Arnis Federation of the Philippines also took part in this event.
The Arts and Soldiers in the Reserve Force is the Navys contribution in the month-long celebration of the National Arts Month 2020 which began in January 1991 through Presidential Proclamation No. 683.
As pointed out by the Navy chief in his remarks, this exhibit “showcases the passion, talents and love of arts and truly demonstrative of the superior skills possessed by our Reserve Force.” (navy.mil.ph)
