NCAA: TAEKWONDO JINS NAGPASIKLAB SA ‘NEW NORMAL’

NAGPAKITANG-GILAS ang student-athletes mula sa 10 member-schools ng National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) kung saan opisyal nang tinapos ng “Rise Up Stronger: NCAA Season 96” ang virtual taekwondo competition nito.

Kasama ang official broadcast partner nito na GMA Network, binuksan ng NCAA ang extraordinary Season 96 noong Hunyo sa isang matapang na hakbang para makasunod sa ‘new normal’.

Idinaos mula Hunyo 14 hanggang Hulyo 5, ang taekwondo events ngayong season ay kinabilangan ng Poomsae Standard, Poomsae Freestyle, Speed Kicking Juniors, Speed Kicking Women’s, at Speed Kicking Men’s.

Ang De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (CSB) ang itinanghal na overall champion ng Speed Kicking event sa men’s  at women’s divisions.

Sa men’s division ay nakalikom ang  CSB ng kabuuang 5 gold medals mula kina Ivan Murray Solimen (Finweight Division), Laurence Scott Santiago (Featherweight Division), Mikko Michael Regala (Welterweight Division), Matthew Cloyd Roxas (Light Middleweight Division) at Josemari Aiko Ong (Heavyweight Division).

Nadominahan din ng CSB jins ang speed kicking tournament kung saan apat na players nito ang naghari sa iba’t ibang classes sa women’s category: Krizelle Therese Yadao (Flyweight), Loralee Natividad (Welterweight), Anne Christine Obenza (Middleweight), at Lucille Cunanan (Heavyweight).

Nag-uwi rin ng  gold medals sa men’s division sina San Beda University’s Jack Janggo Natividad (Flyweight Division) at Christian Neil Arches (Lightweight Division), gayundin si Stanley Roy Laguio ng Arellano University (Bantamweight Division).

Nagwagi ng golds sa women’s division sina Jose Rizal University’s  Emie Fernandez (Finweight Division), San Beda University’s Princess Angel Doria (Bantamweight Division), San Sebastian College-Recoletos’ Liza Leslie Bagay (Feather-weight Division), at Paulene Gaye Rey ng Arellano University (Lightweight Division).

Samantala, nadominahan naman ng San Beda University ang Speed Kicking Juniors Division makaraang magwagi ng tatlong  gold medals. Nanguna sa kani-kanilang divisions sina Ignatius Vicente Lorenzo Pinera (Bantamweight Division), Philip Joshua Lee (Lightweight Division), at Louell Ivannerich Mamaclay (Light Middleweight Division).

Nag-uwi rin ng gold medals sina CSB-La Salle Greenhills jins Victor Emmanuel Rodriguez at Raphael Ongkiko, na namayani sa Welterweight Division at Middle/Light Heavyweight Division, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Itinanghal ding kampeon sa kanilang weight class sina Lyceum of the Philippines University’s John Patrick Moneda (Fin/Flyweight Division), Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s Luke Morel (Featherweight Division), at Joshua Lyndon Dionio ng Arellano University (Heavyweight Division).

Nagningning naman sa Juniors Poomsae Standard at Poomsae Freestyle Event ang Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC). Nakopo ni John Vergel Reyes ng EAC ang gold medal sa Poomsae Standard Juniors habang nangibabaw si John Mc Leary Ornido sa Poomsae Freestyle Standard Juniors.

Namayani sa Women’s at Men’s Divisions sa Poomsae Standard sina Jose Rizal University’s Emie Fernandez at San Beda University’s Alfritz Victoria Arevalo.
