Ayon sa Meralco, tataas ang household rate ng P0.1853 per kilowatt-hour kaya ang overall rate para sa buwan ay magiging P8.5920/kWh mula P8.4067/kWh noong Abril.
Katumbas ito ng P37 na dagdag sa mga residential customer na kumokonsumo ng 200 kWh kada buwan, P55 dagdag sa may konsumo na 300 kWh, P73 sa mga kumokonsumo ng 400 kWh, at P90 sa mga kumokonsumo ng 500 kWh.
Ito na ang ika-2 sunod na buwan na nagkaroon ng taas-singil ang power disttributor.
Sinabi ng Meralco na ang May overall rate ay mas mababa pa rin kumpara sa rate noong isang taon na P0.1548 per kWh.
“This is also the lowest rate for May since 2017,” ayon sa kompanya.
Ipinaliwanag pa ng Meralco na natapos na nito ang Energy Regulatory Commission-approved refund ng over-recoveries sa pass-through charges, “so the corresponding deduction for the refund will no longer appear beginning with the May bill.”
Sa isang kautusan na ipinalabas noong December 29, 2020, inatasan ng ERC ng Meralco na isauli ang P1.4 billion na over-recoveries sa transmission at iba pang charges.
Ipinatupad ng Meralco ang inaprubahang adjustments simula Enero 2021 at natapos na ito noong Abril.
“The increase this month was tempered, as Meralco continues the implementation of the Distribution Rate True-Up refund, which began in March 2021,” ayon pa sa kompanya.
Samantala, tumaas naman ang generation charge ngayong buwan sa P4.5474/kWh mula sa P4.5370/kWh noong Abril.
