NHMFC Pres. Tobias keynotes OSHDP Affordable Housing Summit 2022, enjoins collaboration in addressing housing crisis

14 Oct. 2022 – NHMFC President Renato L. Tobias enjoined the Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines (OSHDP) to continue working with the government’s key shelter agencies in addressing the country’s housing crisis.

In his keynote message during the OSHDP Affordable Housing Summit 2022 recently held in the Province of Bohol, President Tobias expressed his firm commitment to contribute to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development’s (DHSUD) “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino: Zero ISF 2028 Program.”

Under the leadership of DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino “Jerry” Acuzar, the government’s housing sector aims to build one million homes per year over a period of six years.

President Tobias said that NHMFC’s support to DHSUD’s Zero Informal Settlers 2028 Program is through its Housing Loan Receivables Purchase Program or HLRPP. “This is NHMFC’s allocation of a liquidity facility for housing originators to ensure continuous production of affordable housing units,” he remarked.

“The NHMFC’s unique role as the government’s primary secondary institution serves the Filipinos by catering to the most pressing needs of our nation –- a safe, decent, sustainable and affordable housing for the Filipino families,” he stressed. He emphasized the need to build not just affordable and decent homes, but to build homes that can withstand natural disasters. It is a fact that the Philippines is one of the most vulnerable to climate change.

President Tobias also expressed his appreciation to OSHDP for organizing the Summit. The event was attended by more than 300 real estate industry players from all over the country.
