SA LOOB ng tatlong buwan simula ngayon, ang lahat ng mga Filipino ay maaaring mag-nominate ng kanilang sports idols na nag-iwan ng marka ng kahusayan mula 1924 hanggang 1994.
Bubuksan ng Philippine Sports Hall of Fame (PSHOF) Review and Evaluation Committee ang proseso ng nominasyon ngayong araw, Marso 1, na unang bahagi ng pagpili para sa fourth batch ng inductees.
“Republic Act No. 8757 also known as the PSHOF Act opens the nomination for amateur and professional athletes and coaches/trainers who brought distinction and honor to the country in their respective sport, either as an athlete, coach or trainer,” ayon sa PSHOF.
Napagkasunduan ng 2020 selection committee na pinamumunuan ni Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William Ramirez na magkaroon lamang ng 10 inductees.
“The nominees need to have a wide, historic and unprecedented global impact by winning a gold, silver or bronze medal in prestigious international competitions such as the Summer Olympic Games, World Championships, Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games.”
Sa unang miting ng selections committee, itinakda ng body ang simula ng nominasyon sa Marso, na tatagal sa Mayo 31. Tutulungan sila ng review committee sa pag-screen sa mga nominado.
“We recognize the valuable knowledge of our sports chroniclers when it comes to this, so we will ask for their help,” ayon sa sports agency chief.
Kasama ni Ramirez sa selection committee si Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham Tolentino bilang vice chairman, at ang mga miyembro na kinabibilangan nina POC Secretary-General Atty. Edwin Gastanes, Games and Amusement Board Chairman Abraham Mitra, Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines Secretary-General Atty. Avelino Sumagui, SEA Games gold medalist at Philippine Olympians Association President Akiko Thomson Guevara at University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Executive Director Atty. Rene Saguisag Jr.
Ang nomination forms ay maaaring i-download sa PSC website at Facebook accounts.
Ang iba’t ibang universities, government, at private offices ay padadalhan din ng forms upang himukin ang mas maraming nominasyon.
Ang deadline ng pagsusumite ng nominasyon ay sa Mayo 31.
