MAHIGIT sa 1,000 kompanya ang hindi nakapagbigay ng 13th month pay sa kanilang mga empleyado noong nakaraang taon, ayon sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

“There are about 1,300 establishments that have not paid the 13th month of their workers,” pahayag ni Labor Undersecretary Ana Dione sa Laging Handa briefing.

Sinabi ni Dione na mag-iisyu sila ng compliance orders sa naturang mga kompanya.

May 14,000 kompanya naman, aniya, ang nakasunod sa mandatory payment ng 13th month pay.

“About 90.91 percent of the establishments inspected have complied,” ani Dione.

Noong nakaraang linggo ay inanunsiyo ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) na naghahanda ang financing arm nito, ang Small Business (SB) Corp., ng loan program upang tulungan ang micro and small businesses (MSMEs) na maibigay ang 13th month pay ng kanilang mga empleyado.

Samantala, nakatakdang magpalabas ang DOLE ng advisory sa tamang computation ng 13th month pay para sa private sector workers sa gitna ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Sa ilalim ng Presidential Decree No. 851, dapat matanggap ng mga manggagawa ang kanilang 13th month pay na hindi lalagpas sa December 24 ng bawat taon. PNA
