TUMAAS ang total assets ng banking sector ng bansa ng 12 percent hanggang noong katapusan ng Abril ngayong taon.
Sa datos mula sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), lumitaw na ang total assets ng Philippine banking sector ay tumaas sa P25.48 trillion mula P22.75 trillion noong Abril ng nakaraang taon.
Gayunman, ang total assets sa nasabing buwan ay mas mababa kumpara sa P25.6 trillion na naitala noong March 2024.
Ayon kay Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation chief economist Michael Ricafort, ang 12-percent year-on-year growth sa total resources ng mga bangko ay mahigit dalawang beses ng gross domestic product growth ng bansa.
“This is a good signal on the resilience of the banking industry, as this also reflects loan growth near 10 percent recently that would still be a bright spot for the Philippine economy,” sabi ni Ricafort.
“The month-on-month decline in assets could be attributed to tax payments by banks and some of their clients since April is the tax filing and payment season in a typical year, based on consistent patterns seen for many years,” aniya.
Sinabi ni Ricafort na ang banking industry ay patuloy na nagiging isa sa “most profitable at most resilient industries” sa bansa sa kabila ng mga hamon tulad ng COVID-19 pandemic.
“This also reflects consistent double-digit growth in banks’ net income for many years,” dagdag pa niya.
